Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
SlopSaver is a macOS screensaver and companion app that plays and generates short AI videos. This policy describes exactly what data the app and its server collect, why, who processes it, and how long it is kept — written to match what the software actually does, not a generic template.
The short version: SlopSaver has no login and asks for no name, email, or password. Your Mac is identified by a hardware identifier, payments run through Stripe, and the only location we keep is a coarse city/region label — we never store your raw IP address.
Who we are
SlopSaver ("we", "us") operates the SlopSaver macOS app and the backing service at api.slopsaver.com. For any privacy question or a data-deletion request, contact privacy@slopsaver.com.
What we collect
1. A machine identifier
The app reads your Mac's IOPlatformUUID — a stable hardware UUID assigned by macOS — and uses it as your account identifier. It is how the service tracks your free credit, your subscription entitlement, and the history of videos you have generated, without ever asking you to create an account.
On first use, the app enrolls this machine with the server and receives a unique per-machine authentication token. That token is stored in your Mac's Keychain and sent with each request. The server keeps only a SHA-256 hash of the token — the token itself never leaves your Mac in a reusable form.
2. The videos you create
When you generate a video, we store the details of that creation so it can appear in your history and, if you publish it, on the public community feed:
- the text prompt you wrote;
- your style, motion, and vibe selections and the tier (lite/standard);
- the resulting video and the date it was made;
- the display name ("handle") you attach as the creator credit. The handle defaults to your macOS user name unless you change it, so it may contain your real name if your macOS account does.
Videos you choose to publish are shown on a public, all-ages community feed with their handle, title, and approximate location (see below). Video files are hosted on our own server at api.slopsaver.com.
3. Approximate, IP-derived location
At the moment you generate a video, the server looks up an approximate location (city, region, and/or country) from your public IP address using the third-party lookup services ipapi.co and ipwho.is. Only the resulting coarse label (for example, "Austin, Texas, United States") is stored and attached to the creation. We do not store your raw IP address.
4. Payment and subscription data (via Stripe)
Payments and subscriptions are handled by Stripe. When you upgrade, checkout happens on Stripe's own hosted page — your card number and payment details are entered directly into Stripe and never reach SlopSaver's servers.
From the payment flow we store:
- a link between your Stripe customer ID and your machine identifier, so your subscription is credited to the right Mac;
- your subscription / credit status (credit balance, paid status, monthly reset date);
- a ledger of processed Stripe event IDs used to apply credits exactly once.
Stripe may also make your billing email available to the service as part of a checkout event. Stripe's own handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
What we do NOT collect
- No passwords, and no login account.
- No raw IP addresses (only the derived city/region/country label).
- No contacts, files, browsing history, or the contents of your screen.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies in the app.
Third-party processors
SlopSaver relies on the following services to function. Each receives only the data needed for its job:
| Processor | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Higgsfield | AI video generation | Your prompt and style/motion/vibe parameters, to render the video |
| OpenRouter | Prompt safety screening | Your prompt text, checked for policy violations before generation |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Your payment details (entered on Stripe) and subscription events |
| GitHub | Public community feed hosting | Metadata for approved public videos (handle, title, location label, URL), mirrored to a public Gist |
| ipapi.co / ipwho.is | IP geolocation | Your public IP at generation time, to return an approximate location; we keep only the label |
Our marketing website (slopsaver.com) also loads fonts from Google Fonts and static assets from the jsDelivr CDN; those providers may log requests under their own privacy policies.
Data retention
- Machine records, credit/subscription status, and generation history are retained for as long as your machine record exists on the service. There is no automatic expiry.
- Location labels are stored as part of each generated video's record and share that record's lifetime.
- Token hashes are retained while the machine remains enrolled.
- Stripe customer links and the processed-event ledger are retained for billing integrity and reconciliation.
To request deletion of your machine record and its associated history, email privacy@slopsaver.com with the request; we can remove the data tied to your machine identifier.
Children
SlopSaver is not directed at children under 13, and the public feed is intended for a general audience.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the software changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date, and the current version is always available at https://slopsaver.com/privacy.html.
